BWTS commissioning testing & service
What is BWTS commissioning testing?
Under the IMO Ballast Water Management Convention, every newly installed ballast water treatment system (BWTS) must pass commissioning testing before the International Ballast Water Management Certificate is issued. Testing is carried out in accordance with IMO guidance BWM.2/Circ.70 and demonstrates that the system meets the D-2 discharge standard, with sampling witnessed and results accepted by the classification society and flag state.
What we offer
- Ballast water sample collection at commissioning of newly installed or retrofitted BWTS
- Indicative and detailed analysis of the D-2 standard organism groups
- Test reports prepared for classification society and flag state acceptance
- Attendance at shipyards and ports across the Baltic region and worldwide
- As ERMA FIRST agents, deep familiarity with a wide range of treatment technologies — UV, electrochlorination and filtration
BWTS annual health checks & maintenance
Beyond commissioning, we keep ballast water treatment systems performing after handover. We carry out annual BWTS health checks for various manufacturers' systems — including sensor calibration, alarm and self-diagnostics verification, and preventive maintenance — helping you avoid Port State Control findings and unexpected downtime.
