ODME calibration & service

What is an ODME?

The Oil Discharge Monitoring Equipment (ODME) is required by MARPOL Annex I on oil and product tankers. It monitors the oil content of ballast and slop water discharged to sea and automatically stops the discharge when the permitted limits are exceeded. Port State Control and vetting inspections expect the system to be operational, calibrated and supported by service documentation.
